documents with county official on Thursday | Express

The government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the French county d'llle-et-Vilaine at the Raj Nivas here on Thursday. The MoU will facilitate the sharing of expertise in the field of tourism, coastal zone management, education and heritage preservation.

The MoU was signed by Chief Secretary M Sathiyavathy and Vice President of d'llle-et-Vilaine, Tascon Mennetrier, in the presence of Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Tourism Minister P Rajavelu, Tourism Secretary W V R Murthy, Consulate General of France Pierre Fournier and other dignitaries.

The MoU will support beach development, eco- tourism and preservation of heritage, solid waste management and green building concepts. The move is aimed at making Puducherry a complete tourism destination for a week-long stay. The department of tourism has, in the past, entered into agreements with other States and County Councils of France like La Rochelle and Villeneuve-sur-Lot for the promotion of tourism.
